Surfing Lessons
We cater for all surfing abilities, from beginners learning to stand and gain water confidence, intermediate surfers exploring unbroken waves and those looking to refine their turns. All of our surf coaches are fully qualified beach lifeguards and ISA surf instructors, with years of experience surfing and in the water. Have fun, feel safe and learn to surf with us.
We are lucky enough to operate from two prime locations within St.Ives Bay.
Our HQ is located within the Away Resorts St.Ives Bay Beach Resort TR27 5BH where we have indoor changing facilities and a well stocked surf shop catering for all your surfing needs.
Our second location is located in the National Trust site at Godrevy TR27 5ED, we affectionately refer to this location as our beach camp and is where Shore Surf School was born back in 1999.
What to expect from your first surfing lesson
At Shore Surf School, you can expect a thrilling and supportive experience, guided by our experienced surf instructors. Everyone above the age of 7 is welcome to join in our group surfing lessons, it's never to late to begin your surfing journey.In your first lessons, you'll learn essential surfing techniques, beach safety, and master board handling, all in a safe and encouraging environment, helping you to build your confidence in the ocean. With the excitement of catching your first waves, the joy of the Cornish sea will leave lasting memories of a truly unforgettable experience.

Do I need to book surfing lessons in advance?
Yes, we recommend you book your surfing lessons in advance with us using our online booking service or give us a call on 01736 755556. Head over to our 'Surf Lessons' page to make a booking.
What do we need to bring with us for our surfing lesson?
All we ask you bring is your swim kit and a towel. If you want to bring your own wetsuit, that's no problem, we recommend not wearing a shortie wetsuit for your lesson as you may get cold, unless its super sunny. Please arrive 15 minutes before your lesson to check in.
What is the youngest age you allow to participate in surf lessons?
The youngest we allow are 7 years and above. We do ask that 7 year olds are accompanied by an adult during the lesson, that is either the adult books in for a lesson themselves, or they borrow a wetsuit from us to accompany the child in the water during their lesson. We ask for everyone participating in surf lessons to be able to swim at least 25m in a pool unaided.
If i change my mind can i cancel for a refund?
in order to cancel and refund your lesson we must receive at least 24hrs notice. We can reschedule if there is a legitimate reason why you cannot attend the lesson on the day. If we are unable to reschedule we can email you a voucher which you can than use to book a lesson with us at a future date.
